In 2005, Thatcher Lyman graduated from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Organ Performance. While there he studied organ with Haskell Thomson and James David Christie. He has played in master classes for Daniel Roth, Jean Pierre LeGuay, Marie-Louise Langlais, Lionel Rogg, and Jon Laukvik. His former teachers include Angela Salcedo and Lucinda Mosher. Thatcher also received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Oberlin College. Thatcher earned a Master of Arts Degree in Ensemble singing in 2006 from the University of York. He has returned to the United States, earning a Master of Music degree in Organ Performance at the Eastman School of Music in 2008 in Rochester, NY. He is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Eastman, where he studies organ with Hans Davidsson, sings weekly with the Christ Church Schola Cantorum, and is the Director of Music at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Webster, NY.
