Sam Sytsma grew up in the state of Maine where he enjoyed a full range of musical activities, both singing and playing a variety of instruments. He studied singing and environmental studies at Oberlin College and harpsichord at the Royal Conservatiore, The Hague, The Netherlands. He has sung with Apollo's Singers in Cleveland, the Royal Conservatoire Chamber Choir, and the York Minster Choir. His most recent solo appearance was in February 2005 as the title role in Ludus Danielis, directed by Mary E. Larew, and he will also star in Mary's production of Herod and the Slaughter of the Innocents in June, 2007. Besides singing in Uncloistered, his other passions include playing accordion and lute, gardening, baking, and hiking.
