Christopher Macklin

Christopher Macklin is currently spending two years of study in the United Kingdom as a 2004 George C. Marshall Scholar. He is the bass in the vocal quintet Uncloistered, now based in York, UK, and now sings regularly with the Ebor Singers and the choir of York Minster. Other recent engagements have included Spem in Alium with the Tallis Scholars at the 2005 Brighton Early Music Festival, singing the roles of King Belshazzar and a Lion in the medieval music drama Ludus Danielis, which toured Ohio and Massachusetts in February 2005, and playing the Devil in a 2004 production of Hildegard von Bingen's Ordo Virtutum in Oberlin and Cleveland, OH, for which he also served as assistant director and vocal coach. Until his graduation in May 2004, Chris was very active in the Historical Performance Department at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music (US), sang at numerous churches throughout London, and in the 2004-2005 academic year was the conductor of the Goodenough College Vocal Jazz ensemble. Chris is now a PhD student of Medieval and Renaissance Vocal Music studying with Dr. John Potter at the University of York.
